AoTTG 2 download and install guide
The community successor to the original tribute game: what to download, and how to get into a server that has people in it.
AoTTG 2 is the community-built successor to the original Attack on Titan Tribute Game. It is a modern Unity project rather than a patch on the 2013 build, and it is where the active custom map and mod scene lives. It is free.
It is a Windows download. There is no browser version, and there is no official mobile build. Anything advertising "AoTTG 2 APK" or "AoTTG 2 online, no download" is not AoTTG 2.
How to install AoTTG 2
- Get the current release from the project's own community channels. AoTTG 2 has an active Discord where the maintainers pin the real download; use that rather than a mirror.
- Extract to a dedicated folder outside Downloads and outside Program Files, so the game can write its settings and downloaded map cache without permission prompts.
- Run the executable once and let it create its config before you change anything. First launch is slower than the rest.
- Open settings and rebind before you play. Hook keys and gas are the two you will care about, and the defaults are not what most players end up on.
- Join a public server from the in-game browser to check it works, then look for a community server if you want a specific ruleset.
Common install problems
- Antivirus quarantining the executable is the most common failure. It is an unsigned fan build; if you trust the source, allow it, and if you do not, do not run it at all.
- Missing Visual C++ runtimes cause an immediate crash on launch with no error window. Installing the current Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable fixes it.
- Custom maps download automatically when you join a server that uses them. If joins hang at the loading screen, that is usually the map download, not a freeze. Give it a minute before you kill it.
- Never install a mod pack over a broken base install. Get vanilla working first.
The no-install alternative
AoTTG 2 is genuinely good and it is our #2 pick, but it is a download, a rebind session and a server hunt before you are playing. TitanRoyale is our #1 because it is the same genre with none of that: browser-based, dedicated servers, no account, and you are in a match one click after the page loads.
TitanRoyale is our #1 Attack on Titan fan game: ODM gear, titans and a nape-only kill rule, running free in your browser.
Play TitanRoyale freeBrowser-based. No download, no launcher, no account.
